Dr. Yi Hong is a Distinguished University Professor in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He achieved his PhD in Material Science and Engineering in 2005 at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. And then Dr. Hong worked as a postdoc and later as a Research Assistant Professor in the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh (PITT) from 2006 to 2012. After joined in UTA in 2012, his research focuses on developing functional and bioactive biodegradable soft materials and translational research for tissue repair and regeneration with emphasis on cardiovascular disease treatment. He has published 100 peer-review papers in the field of biomaterials, and 12 patents as well as over 160 conference abstracts. He received many awards, including NSF CAREER award (2016), COE Outstanding Early Career Faculty Award (2018), BMES ABioM Junior Investigator Award (2018), COE Excellence in Research (2020), CAB Mid-Career Award (2020), and University Outstanding Research Award (2021), and recent AHA Established Investigator Award (2022). He is a Fellow of American Heart Association (AHA), American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and a Senior Member of NAI. His research has been funded from AHA, NSF, NIH, ONR and CPRIT.
